New products and technology for the bakery business take center stage in the upcoming 2023 Bakery World exhibition set on September 14 to 16, 2023 at the Waterfront Hotel and Casino Cebu City. Start-up bakery businesses have the potential to grow through innovation and technology. This is the goal of the Bakery World 2023, an event organized by the Mandaue Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI). MCCI President Kelie Ko, chair of the Bakery World exhibit, said the exhibit aims to enable bakeries and café owners, especially the small and medium, to level up. “We’re going to see a lot of bakery and café related suppliers, from ingredients to equipment and a little bit of packaging. They will see different ways of using products, and come up with new products. We will also have food photography sessions,” Mr. Ko said. Barangay Lamac Sk Council in Consolacion held its first Tangkong Festival last August 12 at the open grounds of SM City Consolacion. LAMAC, the Barangay name is derived from the word “Lamakan”which translates to “Swamp” which was mostly present around the community even before 1925. These swamps were abundantwith various species of plants and animals, especially Tangkong. Barangay Lamac was and is still known for producing Tangkong crops for markets across Metro Cebu. The abundance ofTangkong has helped a lot of families as well as the community to thrive successfully- providing families a commodity, helping students to finish education. It's not just all business during the Mandaue Business Month 2023. The Mandaue Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) also holds fun activities for member companies. Employees of MCCI member companies will show their stuff at the Lord of the Pins: MCCI Bowling Tournament scheduled on August 19, 2023 at the SM City Bowling and Leisure Center. MBM 2023 chair Mark Anthony Ynoc, who heads this event, said the chamber wants to promote camaraderie and sportsmanship among member companies. This event also hopes promote health and wellness among the business community. “In the previous years, we have basketball, obstacle races, and a volleyball tournament. The Central Visayas Maritime Training and Review Center Inc. (CVMTRC) will help provide trainings required under the International Convention on Standards on Training, Certification and Watchkeeping (STCW). Initially, the training center only offers domestic training courses for the apprentices of Medallion Transport Inc., a Cebu based shipping company plying the route from Cebu City to other destinations in Leyte, Bohol, and Dipolog City. Since it already has the necessary infrastructure, the management decided to expand into STCW approved training courses and offered them to everyone seeking for domestic or international employment, said Atty.
